Benoit Mandelbrot, who discovered mathematical shapes known as fractals, has died of cancer at the age of 85.

I am no mathematician myself, and admittedly I had no idea who this man was, but I think it is important to honor and remember anyone who contributed to our understanding of things whether it be in the hard sciences, humanism or theology.

Brilliant minds never die... Benoit's work will always be seen. Look at a leaf, a plant. From the sky, one can see 'fractals'
assuming one is in a plane. He certainly will be missed.....
